Lara Cooper's stunning paintings tend to depict things that simply catch her eye and interest - her experience of the world.

The richly visually paintings she creates are usually of people and objects which are full of character. Sometimes her images show a fleeting moment in time that would otherwise be over-looked other times they come from imaginative deliberation.

Lara recently spent 12 months with her family living on the Thailand/Burma border and consequently her more recent works reveal visual stories of her time there.

Now settled back in Yackandandah, she is exploring other mediums, though watercolour continues to remain her medium of choice for its beautiful spontaneous reactions and fluid, translucent qualities.

After a recent win at the Chiltern Art Show, Lara was chosen as one of 12 artists chosen to create an artwork to represent the CD launch of Melbourne band, Dappled Cities.

Her strong sense of pattern and colour has come to fore in the CD launch artwork which features a provocative piece in oil on canvas titled 'Realisation'.

While a relative new-comer to the world of painting, Lara has already won several regional art awards. She also has a strong interest in portraiture and is available for commissioned pieces in various mediums.
