Creativity brings joy. I discovered this at quite a young age and have since observed that I am a happier person if I regularly paint, draw, and pursue other creative activities.
I have always been interested in the internal hidden world. Often what we see on the surface is such a small part of what really is. Consequently I have found myself exploring the underneath layers of things in the physical, emotional, and spiritual worlds we live in.
In earlier painting I explored images of cellular and microscopic shapes and breaking down images of the human figure until they are at times unrecognizable as to what they originally were.
My latest paintings are very much an exploration of the inner response to different types of music. I realize that my responses are different to others so I am in interested in how others reflect upon the same music.
One of my greatest passions is colour. I love to explore colour combinations and discover just how many colours one can make from the three primaries red, blue, and yellow. All of my paintings are created using only these three colours and white.
I am also fascinated with working with just white and/or black. I find this can bring one back to a simplicity which can sometimes be lost when using a lot of colour. My small sculptures are purposely kept white for this reason. The play of shadow when lighting these figures creates an added dimension to the work
I am a local artist and have had three solo exhibitions in Wodonga and Melbourne. I completed my Diploma in Fine Arts at the Riverina Institute of TAFE in 2004.
